Soot damaged Fireplace
These photos are from a different angle of the fireplace and mantle. This home was smoke and soot damaged from a backup due to a faulty fireplace damper. We cleaned most areas of the house, but the fireplace brick was very heavily affected around the opening. We wanted to clean the brick and mantle without damaging the surfaces or causing discoloration of the bricks most affected. First, we HEPA vacuumed all the bricks and wood mantle. Next, we dry sponged cleaned the bricks and mantle. We then cleaned the soot-stained brick with a 3 step process according to SERVPRO guidelines. After allowing the bricks to dry completely we did a follow up cleaning using the same 3 step process on the bricks. The wooden mantle we cleaned using our wood cleaning products. The homeowners were very happy with the results and we excited to put their family photos back upon the mantle
